Richard James Schaner

Richard James Schaner, 87, of Effingham, SC passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025. Richard was born in Westfield, PA, the son of the late Sarah Cary and Earl Fred Schaner. He was a member of Effingham Presbyterian Church, ARP and was in the Square Dance Club at John Calvin Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise Schaner and second wife, Dixie Schaner; brother, Earl Schaner and sisters, Pearl Aeppli and Kathleen Hauber. Surviving are his wife, Katherine “Kitty” Ann Schaner; sons, Michael (Terry), David (Cindy), and Edward (Tracy) Schaner; daughter, Marsha Schaner Marvin; stepsons, Randy (Lisa) and Ricky (Lynn) Flowers, and Murdoch and Cedric Lind; step daughter, Connie Taylor; and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 12:00 -1:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Effingham Presbyterian Church, ARP with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM in the church.
