Richard Randall Tumlin, 71, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at McLeod Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Tumlin was born in Birmingham, AL, son of the late Alice Ann Barber and the late Billy Hudson Tumlin. He attended Jefferson State Junior College and University of Alabama at Birmingham. Mr. Tumlin was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the Army Reserve. He was a claims representative and technical expert with the Social Security Administration, retiring after 38 years with the agency. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Paris Masonic Lodge #108 York Rite and Lamar First Baptist Church. In addition, to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Melba Diane Wood Tumlin. Surviving are his daughters, Ashley Tumlin (Coleman) Moody of Florence and Amanda Kaye Tumlin of Florence; brothers, William Ray Tumlin and Howell Jay Tumlin, both of Warrior, AL; seven grandchildren and Tom McManus of Lamar. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 on Friday, December 23, 2022, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
