Robert “Bob” Gunton passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, October 7, 2024, in Florence, South Carolina. Robert is survived by and will be sadly missed by his son Rob Gunton and wife Letha, granddaughter Bobbie-Lynn Wright and husband Brad, great-grandson Hunter, great-granddaughter Olivia, all of South Carolina; daughter Susan Steeman and husband Henry of Alberta; daughter Sherry Beauchamp and husband Greg, granddaughter Natasha “Moose”, granddaughter Emma and great-granddaughter Sophie and great-grandson Corbin, grandson Benjamin, all of Nova Scotia, daughter Judy Miller and husband Larry, granddaughter Ashlee and great-granddaughter Sutton and Sloane, grandson Mike all of Alberta. Son Randy Gunton and partner Martha, granddaughter Brittany and Breanna, grandson Brandon, all of South Carolina; the mother of Robert’s children Carole Cole of Ontario; Jeanne’s children Tonia, Tricia, and Jae and their families; brother Keith Gunton and husband Nick of Ontario; Sister Ruth Ann Daw and husband Jim of Ontario. Also, many nieces and nephews as well. Robert was predeceased by his partner Jeanne Carmichael; His parents Robert and Ruth Gunton; brother Leon Gunton and sister-in-law Sharon; brother Gary Gunton. Robert was born and raised in Simcoe, Ontario. He worked in sales of automotive parts much of his adult life, residing in various places; Simcoe, Oakville, Toronto, Barrie, Painswick in Ontario; Winnipeg, Brandon, and Minnedosa in Manitoba. Robert operated a restaurant and a pizza place in Barrie, Ontario and the Barhead Hotel in Markdale, Ontario. Robert moved to South Carolina to enjoy warmer weather and operated his portable sign business until recently. As a youth and in his adult life, Robert enjoyed playing hockey and coaching kids while his kids played hockey. In his early adult years, Robert enjoyed racing late model race cars at tracks in Ontario, Manitoba, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Robert was an avid Nascar fan, watching Sunday races, and enjoying the occasional live race. While living in South Carolina, Robert enjoyed weekly golf games with his son Rob and was joined by his other children when they visited. We will all keep our wonderful memories tucked safely in our hearts.
