ROBERT DALE ALLEN Florence, SC ROBERT DALE ALLEN, 87, of Florence, died Monday, May 09, 2011 at the McLeod Hospice House of Florence after an illness. Mr. Allen was born in Morning Sun, Iowa a son of the late Harry and Lena Thompson Allen. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during WWII receiving the following decorations:the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and 1 Silver Star, 2 Overseas Bars and the Distinguished Unit Badge GO129 9th AF 45.He was employed for over 30 years as a Construction Foreman for Griffin Construction Company and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Florence. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Virginia Brown Allen; son, Maurice Allen of Virginia; brother, Everett "Bud" Allen of Rolla, MO; sisters, Shirley Self of Sturgeon, MO and Majorie Davis of Burlington, IO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Immanuel Baptist Church immediately following the service at the cemetery.
