Robert Edward Lewis

Robert Edward Lewis Florence, SC Robert Edward Lewis, 79, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence after a brief illness. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 at Greenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sandy Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery at Galivants Ferry, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Mr. Lewis was born in Mullins, SC a son of the late Alexander and Dora King Lewis. He was an avid fisherman, loved hunting and enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors. He was employed as a Foreman with DuPont from which he retired after 30 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Roseann Taylor Lewis, who died November 30, 2011 and 2 brothers, John and Jack Lewis. Surviving are his 4 children, Sheree (Harry) Prosser, Vickie (Randy) Morrison and Robin (Debbie) Lewis all of Florence and David (Sheila) Lewis of Millington, TN; their mother, Shirley Lewis of Florence; step-son, Jim (Vickie) Mozingo of Kingstree; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Wade (Irene) Lewis of Hamlet, NC and a half-sister, Carolyn Davis. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Mite Ministry, Greenwood Baptist Church, 2401 Claussen Rd., Florence, SC29505.
