Robert S. Wilkes

Robert S. Wilkes, 67, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. He was born in Johnsonville, SC, the son of the late John Wilkes and Evelyn Stone O’Reilly. He was an avid fisher and gardener. Mr. Wilkes enjoyed cooking and doing projects around the house. He had a love for muscle cars and motorcycles. He also loved building model cars. Mr. Wilkes retired at Florence Hydraulics after thirty-six years. He was a member at South Florence Baptist Church. Mr. Wilkes had a servant’s heart. He was always willing to help his friends and family. He had a gentle soul and loved spending quality time with his family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Robert “Danny” Wilkes, Jr.; brothers, Charles Wilkes and Ronnie Wilkes; and sister, Wanda Gail Wilkes. Surviving are his loving wife, Cheryl Wilkes; son, James (Ashley) Robbins; daughters, Lorie (Chris) Wilkes, Melanie (Andy) Herring, Victoria (Brent) Hudson and Tracy Wilkes (Jason Lamb); seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Glen Wilkes, Carol Wilkes, Ronald (Ann) Wilkes, Donnie Wilkes and Chris O’Reilly; and sister, Nikki O’Reilly. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the funeral home, Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
