Rosanne was born on October 4, 1943. She was the daughter of Rebecca (Bridges) and Douglas S. Tolar. She was born in Columbia, SC at Fort Jackson while her father was serving in the Army during World War II. She was predeceased by her parents and by her husband, Frederick Rutledge Saunders, Sr., originally from Sumter, SC. Rosanne grew up in Kinston, NC and was a graduate of Grainger High School. She received a Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Florence-Darlington Technical College. She worked for Florence General Hospital; McLeod Regional Medical Center and finished her nursing career as an agency nurse when she lived in West Columbia, SC. Rosanne and Freddie married on July 20, 1991, at First Presbyterian Church in Florence, SC. They lived in West Columbia, SC and Statesville, NC before retiring in Florence, SC. They enjoyed traveling and gathering with friends and family. She and Freddie had fond memories of trips to the beach and cruises to Alaska and Bermuda. Rosanne and Freddie loved their pets. Over the years, they had cats - Doofus, Molly, Scarlett and Daisy - and black toy poodles - Coco Chanel and Bella. Rosanne is survived by Bella. Rosanne is survived by her sons - Lee Rivers and his wife Tere', of Surfside Beach, SC; Bryan Rivers and his wife, Beth, of Lexington, SC; and David Rivers and his wife Becky, of Tampa, FL and Freddie’s sons - Rick Saunders and his wife, Tiffany; Paul Saunders and his wife, Kathy, all of Florence, SC, and Mark Saunders, of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Michael, Kara, William, Matthew, Daniel, Sophia and Olivia Rivers, Leighton Pohorilak and Kirsten Baxley; Chris, Reagan, Reid, and Ryleigh Saunders; and great-grandchildren, Ezra and Maezie Pohorilak and Chapman Saunders. She is also survived by her brother, Doug Tolar and his wife, Lee, of Fort Walton Beach, FL; nieces Meredith Tolar and Lauren Minyard, and great nephews Nash and Penn Minyard all of Charlotte, NC. Her family is thankful for the love and care Rosanne received at Westminster Memory Care of Lexington and Agape Hospice Care. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 12:00 Noon on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. A private entombment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
