March 2, 1925 — March 10, 2024

Ruth Elizabeth Catoe Clark went to her heavenly home peacefully on March 10, 2024, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Stoudenmire Funeral Home with burial to follow in Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 PM on Thursday in the Chapel. Ruth was born March 2, 1925, and raised on a farm in Chesterfield County in the community of Catarrh to the late William Thomas Catoe and Eula Belk Catoe. She learned the value of hard work at a very early age. She received her high school diploma from Jefferson High School in 1943 and she was the only child in her family to do so. Upon graduation she moved to Rock Hill to work at Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. While there, she met her future husband, the late Rembert Franklin Clark, Jr. After a three-month courtship they were married March 14, 1947. Three children later, they moved to Florence where they were charter members of Northgate Baptist Church and where she taught Sunday School. In her later years she became a member of her neighborhood church, New Hope Baptist. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She loved playing golf and loved watching golf on TV in her later years with her favorite golfers being Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. She loved reading her Bible and completing her word find books. She was an excellent cook and loved her weekly outing to the hairdresser. All of her grandchildren looked forward to their special time with “Granny/G.G.” at Chick-Fil-A. Most importantly she loved her Lord and her family. Ruth was a strong woman of faith; she had an unbreakable relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend and will be missed every day. Ruth is survived by her sons, Rembert F. Frank (Phyllis) Clark, III, Kenneth Wayne Clark, daughter, Susan Renee Clark Poston (Jerry); six grandchildren, Carey Clark (Kelcey) Dickinson, Megan Clark (Terry) Allen, Jeremy Poston, Kristen Renee (Owen) Fraley, Wayne Clark (Amy), Lauren Clark; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Dickinson, Logan Hinson, Aiden Hinson, Amelia Clark, Noah Williams, Nathanael Poston, Joshiah Poston, Emma Poston, Alex Fraley, Madeline Fraley and Abigail Fraley and one great-great grandchild, Abel Smothers. She is survived by her two siblings, Tom Catoe and Jim (Sadie) Catoe both of Lancaster, SC. She is also survived by a multitude of loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her grandson, Josh E. Poston and seven siblings. The family would like to thank McLeod Hospice, Gentiva Hospice and a special thank you to Heritage Home for their loving care and compassion shown to our mom.
