Ruth Clyde Griffith

Ruth “Betsy” Elizabeth Clyde Griffith, 77, of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Mrs. Griffith was born the daughter of the late Alice Gillespie Clyde and Calvin Clyde. She loved being a school teacher. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Griffith and James H. Griffith, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of many years, James H. Griffith, Jr.; cousins, David Gillespie and David Clyde; aunt, Mary May Gillespie and siblings-in-law, David Griffith and Kathy (Vernon) Griffith Kapps; a large group of lifelong friends, Judy Lee Bacot, Carol Ann McLaughlin, William “Lovie” Lee, Coleman “Rooster” Lee, the Swink Family, the Silver Foxes, Mary Ann McIver, and including her church family at Effingham Presbyterian Church. A special thank you to Lorraine Williams for her friendship and care. Memorials may be made to Effingham Presbyterian Church, PO Box 25 Effingham, SC 29541. Friends will be received from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Effingham Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday at the church.
