Shirley J Broach

Shirley J. Broach, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Mrs. Broach was born in Conway, SC to the late Joe Gibson Cooke and Daisy Lee Reynolds Cooke. She, along with her husband, was the owner and operator of National Business Machines, and was a faithful member of Peace Free Will Baptist Church. She was an avid reader who loved playing scrabble while sipping coffee, and she enjoyed taking day trips to the beach with her daughter and her friend. She dearly loved her SC Gamecocks and was thrilled to watch them beat Clemson this year. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Larry Olen Broach; and her brother, Joe Daniel Cooke. Surviving are her daughter, Susan Renee Broach; sister Peggy Cooke Player (Samuel A. Player Sr.); several nieces and nephews, and her loving caregiver and best friend, Lora Alth-Williamson. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice, P.O. Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502. The family will receive friends from 5:00- 7:00 PM Monday, April 10, 2023, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
