Sybil Miles Coward

Sybil Miles Coward, 84, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was born on January 6, 1939 in Clarendon County, SC, the daughter of the late Eulon V. Miles and Alberta Kirby Miles. She attended Olanta High School and night school at the Carolina College of Commerce. She was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church and was the president of the 65+ Co-Ed Sunday School Class. Mrs. Coward worked as a receptionist for Marlowe Manufacturing Co. for 20 years, before retiring in 1987. She also retired from Flav-O-Rich (Pet) Dairy in June of 2002, after working there for 13 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, C. Randolph Coward; nephew, Chris Black; sister-in-law, Jo McAlister, and special nephew, David Stillinger. Surviving are her daughter, Kim Coward (Kevin) Ryan, Florence, SC; a lovely, loving granddaughter, Randi Elizabeth Ryan of Florence; brother, Vester (Miriam) Miles of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Melba “Pee Wee” (Noel) Caldwell of Lexington, SC, Patricia “Pat” (David) Denner of Florence, SC, and Jeanette (Steve) Black of Atlanta, GA; three nieces, two nephews, and special niece, Gail Stillinger. Memorials may be made to Tans Bay Baptist Church, 3919 South Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with the service to be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
