Thomas Warren Chavis

Thomas Warren "Tommy" Chavis Florence, S.C. Thomas Warren "Tommy" Chavis, 60, of Newberry and formerly of Florence, died Saturday, September 17, 2011 in McLeod Hospice House after an illness. Tommy was born in Florence, a son of Mary Smith Barrow and the late Boyd Chavis, Jr. He was an amateur Billiards player and was a member of several billiards associations. He was an avid racing fan and had retired as Co-Owner of EZ Home Sales of Columbia. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Cader and Louise Smith; his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Eveline Chavis, and a brother in law, John Allen. Tommy is survived by his wife, Barbara Kemper Chavis of Newberry; his mother, Mary Smith Barrow of Florence; 3 brothers; Wallace (Lisa) Chavis of Wilmington, NC, Ernest (Debbie) Chavis and Teddy (Trish) Chavis of Florence; 2 sisters; Wanda Gail Allen and Timmie Ann Timmons, both of Florence; daughter, Melissa Chavis of Manning; Step-son, Devan Poston of Florence; a special nephew, Jeffrey Tindall of Florence and several other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.
