Tilden Lee Galloway

December 4, 1956 — June 30, 2024

Tilden Lee Galloway, Jr., a resident of Florence, South Carolina since 1981, passed away on June 30, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Lee graduated from his beloved Clemson University in 1979 with a degree in horticulture. After graduation, Lee worked for North Carolina State University as an agricultural extension agent; after two years, he returned to Clemson, working with their Department of Pesticide Regulation, remaining there for thirty-six years. His dedication, integrity and knowledge meant he was regularly consulted as an expert in the field. From an early age, Lee developed a love of history, family stories, and the outdoors. He pursued these interests in different ways throughout his life. A longtime member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, most recently Lee was serving as adjutant of his local chapter, Pee Dee Rifles Camp 1419. He was also the current president of the South Carolina Genealogical Society's Old Darlington District Chapter where he shared his love and expertise in researching family genealogy. Family was tremendously important to Lee. He loved spending time, traveling and doing activities with his cherished wife of forty-five years, Deborah, and adored daughter, Julia. Lee's idea of family extended to his church family, serving as a volunteer on the greeting team and in any needed capacity at New Spring Church. Lee's faith and trust in God was a cornerstone and bedrock in his life. Tilden Lee Galloway, Jr. is survived by his wife, Deborah Welsh Galloway, daughter, Julia, and his sister Gale Smith (Larry) as well as many treasured nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Tilden Lee Galloway, Sr. and mother, Ruby Louise (Sanders) Galloway. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
