Ulyss Sinkler “U.S.” Brunson, Jr., 90, of Florence, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. Mr. Brunson was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Ulyss S. Brunson and Corrie Hogge Brunson.He was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.He retired from CSX after 42 years and was a US Army and SC National Guard veteran.He was a Mason, member of the Wildlife Action, loved the outdoors, was a member of the NRA and was a former Little League and Dixie Youth Baseball Coach. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Grace Thompson Brunson. Surviving are his son, Michael Brunson; daughter, Debbie B. (Darrell) Martin; children by marriage, Terry (Charlie) Bailey, Melissa (Freddie) Gamble, Anna (Eric) Bingaman, and Homer Thompson; grandchildren, Pamela, Megan, Liza, Laura, Emily, Kayla, Carson, Amy, Aaron, Lauren, Sarah, and Shaun; great-grandchildren, Cailin Grace, John Stephen, Danielle Lynn, Colin, Carson, Riley, and Reegan; brother, William “Billy” Laurin Brunson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Entombment will be held at a later date.
