Vickie Lorraine Thomas Chaney

Vickie Lorraine Thomas Chaney, A.K.A. Momma, Kiki, Ms. Vickie passed away at MUSC Charleston on December 27th, 2021 at the age of 63. She was born in Fayetteville N.C. to Larry and Margie Thomas on December 20th , 1958. Vickie married Cliff Chaney in the sizzling summer of 1979. They moved to Florence S.C. to raise a family and to be close to family. She and Cliff had three Children; Jennifer, Robin, and Michael that have aged, and blessed them equally. Vickie is remembered by so many people in this community for her passion in teaching at Christian Assembly school, FCA and later at Calvary Kindergarten. She didn’t have a degree to teach (her degree was for being a dental assistant), but her qualifications were far more important: a passion for Jesus, loving the little children, patience for never ending lines of questioning, and the love of cartoons! Vickie loved, not just liked, teaching in any capacity. She has taught many children the piano, how to sing, and a few people how to crochet. She could spit out some blankets and hats! She loved puzzles…on her husband’s pool table. She loved trips to the ocean and the mountains with Cliff. Many memories will live on our hearts and minds every time we play putt-putt and watch Disney movies, because while there were difficulties in Vickie’s life, we remember the smiles and the laughter most of all. Vickie is survived by her husband, Cliff; mother, Margie; sister, Brenda (Bill); daughter, Jennifer (Husband Michael, children Caleb, Luke and Ellyanna); daughter, Robin (Husband Christopher, child Everett); and son Michael (Wife Whitney). Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30pm at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Friday, December 31, 2021, with funeral services beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and gifts please send a donation to Calvary Baptist Kindergarten in Vickie’s name.
