Victoria Lynn Simmons-Lewis

Victoria Lynn Simmons-Lewis, 68, of Darlington, South Carolina, passed away the evening of Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was born in Lenoir, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Roy Wayne Mitcham and Gladys Mitcham Yarborough. She follows her brothers Gwyn Mitcham and Glen Mitcham into heaven. She is survived by her husband John Lewis, her brother Gerald Mitcham, her daughter Summer Brown, her son Adam Brown, her step-daughters, Jodie Lewis and Amy Taylor her granddaughter Janie Parnell and her grandson David Brown. Victoria was a passionate animal lover and fostered many pets throughout her life, including her beloved dogs Marty, Abbie, Bruiser and Fifi, as well as her cats Sebastian and Alfie. She also loved to garden and work with her hands, and she could take care of whatever needs arose around the house. She loved to travel, and she always had time for her close friends, whom she loved to meet up with at the bookstore for long conversations in the afternoon. She carried a song with her that she loved to share with others through singing, and even if her pitch was not always perfect, her big heart more than made up for it. She loved to make people laugh and was quick with a joke or witty observation. She was strong in her convictions and cared deeply about those she loved. For those who had the good fortune of getting to know her, words cannot describe the influence she will leave on their lives. Her influence will live on, and her words of wisdom will continue to speak to us, providing solace during difficult times and a simple knowing glance of understanding that everything will be OK. Services will be held at Lamb’s Chapel. The family will see friends at the church on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 12:30 p.m., and services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Donations to the Darlington Humane Society can be sent in lieu of flowers.
