VIRGINIA BROWN ALLEN Florence, SC VIRGINIA BROWN ALLEN, 83, of Florence, died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at a local healthcare facility. Mrs. Allen was born in Florence, a daughter of the late Furman Otto and Birdie Hinds Brown. An employee of Coker's Department Store of Florence for many years; she also was the owner/operator of Virginia's Childrens' Wear. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen is preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Allen, and her brother, Jerry Walton Brown, Esq. Surviving are her son, Maurice Allen of Yorktown, Virginia; sister, Mary F. Wagner of Florence; nieces, Fran Willis of Darlington and Pete Gadley of Florence County. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 W. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Immanuel Baptist Church immediately following the service at the cemetery.
