Wallace Traxler Hatchell

Wallace Traxler Hatchell Florence, SC Wallace Traxler Hatchell, 88 of Florence, returned to the Lord on Saturday, February 05, 2011 in a local healthcare facility after an illness. Mr. Hatchell was born in Lake City, a son of the late Traxler Leach and Evelyn Grimsley Hatchell.He was a Veteran of the US Army having served honorably in Germany and Italy during WWII.Mr. Hatchell boxed throughout his tour in Italy and upon returning to the US, he was a Golden Glove Champion.He retired from Merita Bakery after 33 years of service, was an avid fisherman, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vernie Lucille Floyd Hatchell; sisters, Ruby Lewis,Nita Rose; and a brother, Joe Hatchell. Surviving are a son, Wallace Wayne(Robin) Hatchell of Florence;a daughter, Colleen Hatchell Peters-Rhodes; five grandchildren, Gene (Tammy) Rhodes, Chris (Mary Jo) Rhodes, Dana Rhodes, Chip (Michele) Hatchell, and Brian Hatchell; ten great-grandchildren, Mikalah, Dylan, Sara, and Brooke Rhodes, Michael Nickel, Drew Wildman, Brooke Wilson, Blake Knapp, Brendan and Brandon Hatchell. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Florence National Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
