Walter Clifton Baxley

Walter Clifton "Doc" Baxley Florence, SC Walter Clifton "Doc" Baxley, 88, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in a Florence health care facility after an illness. Mr. Baxley was born in Florence County, a son of the late Walter J. Baxley and the late Etta Bernice Huggins Baxley. He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School and was a retired successful farmer from the Effingham Community of Florence County. Mr. Baxley was married for 63 years to the late Tasco Baxley Baxley. He was a member of the South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was an active supporter of the work in the Florence area for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Louise B. Simmons and Gladys Owens; 2 brothers, Elton "Bud" Baxley and Theron Baxley. Surviving are 2 sons, Jerry Clifton Baxley (Teresa) of Florence and Tony Wayne Baxley (Greer) of Simpsonville, SC; grandson, Bryan Clifton Baxley (Amy) of Florence. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
