William "Bill" Hovatter

William “Bill” Hovatter passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Bill was born on May 16, 1932 in Clarksburg, WV, son of Clyde and Mildred Hovatter.He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the US Navy.He worked for Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio and was a member of the Rotary Club in Findlay, and the Masonic Lodge in Ohio.He lived in Lancaster, Ohio for over 30 years, and was owner of B & K Auto parts.After retirement, he moved to Florence, SC where he worked at Wal-Mart in Sporting Goods and was known to many as Mr. Bill.Bill was an avid golfer at Traces Golf Club and belonged to Tri County Senior Golfers and Black Creek Seniors.He had six Holes-In-One.He also loved to play bridge and was very competitive. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brothers, Ronald, Gary, Leon, and Jim, and sisters, Betty Jean, Gloria, and Gerry.His brothers and sisters were a special part of his life. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Pat Ann Hickman Hovatter; his two children, his pride and joy, son, Jeffrey Alan (Pam) of Pleasant Grove, Utah and daughter, Pamela Sue (Darryl) Barton of Drexel Hill, PA; he was a loving grandfather to Jorden and Nicholas Hovatter, Stacey Wheeler, Ethan, Nate, and Will Barton; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard of Middleport, Ohio; sisters, Alice Spellman of Viera, FL, Kay Unger of Columbus, Ohio, and Diane Hovatter of Columbus, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Frankie, Clo, Nancy, Linda, and Sandy; brothers-in-law, Corbin Fenton and Ed Spellman. A special thanks to the nurses at McLeod and Traces Golf Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf. A visitation will be from 4 – 6 pm Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence, SC.A memorial service will be held at the family reunion in Ohio.
