Willie Joe Roberts

Willie Joe Roberts, 89, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away November 6, 2024, surrounded by his family at the McLeod Hospice House. Mr. Roberts was born in Galivants Ferry, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Landy and Minnie Roberts. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and was employed with Royster Clark for over 30 years. In his retirement, he found his greatest passions. He enjoyed serving through his church, Liberty Chapel Church of Florence, especially in the kitchen. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed fishing; however, spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Willie Joe was a devoted husband, father, and Poppy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Callie Mae Woodberry and Carolyn Collins, and his son-in-law, Russell Owens. Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Linda Sellers Roberts; daughters, Stacie Roberts Owens and Susan Roberts; granddaughters, Sarah Owens Kohut (Joshua) and Rebecca Grace Owens Jernigan (Riley); great-granddaughter Catherine Elizabeth Kohut; siblings, Bobbie Jean Woodle and Jennings Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Mount Hope Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour before the start of the service, and other times at the home of Stacie Owens.
