Willie Edward "Peavine" Touchberry, Sr.

Willie Edward “Peavine” Touchberry, Sr., 78, died Thursday, January 19, 2024 at a local hospital. Born in Effingham, he was the son of the late Joseph Rollin Touchberry, Sr. and Virginia Rhodes Touchberry. He was preceded in death by his siblings, J.R. Touchberry, Jr. and Evelyn T. Matthews, and his nephew, Chris Touchberry. Willie graduated from Southside High School in 1964 and married his loving wife, Dianne in 1973. He retired from BellSouth after over 40 years of service and continued to enjoy his favorite activity, bowling, well into his retirement years. He is survived by his wife, Dianne G. Touchberry of Florence. His son, Willie E. (Johnette) Touchberry, Jr. and daughter, April Dawn (Wes) Hanson; siblings, John (Carolyn) Touchberry and Fannie Touchberry. His grandchildren Joseph (Abigail), Hannah, Emily and Kathleen Touchberry; Abbigail and Arabella Hanson; great grandchildren Charlotte, Benjamin, and Eden Touchberry, and several nieces. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, January 22, 2024 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home and other times at the home of Will Touchberry, 1115 Olanta Highway, Effingham, SC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Effingham ARP Church. Burial will follow in McLaughlin Cemetery. His was a life well lived. He loved deeply and will forever be remembered.
