Woodard Dale Owens

Woodard Dale Owens, age 74, of Florence died peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning, May 2, 2022, in a Florence medical facility after declining health. He was born in Hemingway S.C. on January 21, 1948.He moved to Florence at a young age and spent the rest of his life there. He graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1967. He had a variety of jobs in Florence and retired from Piggly Wiggly in 2013 after many years of service. Dale is the son of Woodard Greer Owens and Louise Strong Owens. They both preceded him in death along with his brother, Charlie Owens. He is survived by his brother, Michael Owens (Becky) of Little Rock AR; a sister-in-law, Chris Owens, of Florence; a nephew, Greer Owens (Candace) of Florence; and a niece, Rachael Owens of Dallas TX. All who knew Dale, are aware of his love for all Gamecock sports. It was a blessing for him to watch the women’s basketball team win the championship game this year. He loved reminiscing about old family stories. In lieu of flowers or a memorial contribution, please drive to the beach for fried seafood or to your favorite BBQ restaurant and think of Dale while you are there. The family planned for his funeral with Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date with family and friends tospread his ashes.
